Future?
I predict that there will be issues regarding the dependency load. Stratford already has a higher dependency load in comparison to the national level. The working population will have troubles supporting such since our current working population will age into the dependency load further into the future. As well, children under the age of 14 is one of the largest age groups in Stratford. It is possible that there will be new structures built to accommodate the larger elderly population in the future, such as retirement homes and golf courses. |
There is also the possibility that climate change will become more severe due to the growing population disrespecting our environment due to ignorance and lack of awareness. No change will be made if we do not change our present ways. Another possibility is that resources, both natural and man-made will become scarce simply due to a larger amount of residents using the materials. The large population in the future would promote consumerism which quickly destroys our Earth. Companies would automatically assume that more people means more business. Therefore, they would build more corporate buildings, use other countries' resources and other nonsense to sell their products. This is a vicious cycle that does not benefit anyone, though many may think so at the time of purchase.
Presently, we would put emphasis on the idea of birth control, but a smaller population would result in less work working citizens that support the dependency load. If this is happens, the taxes may be raised, working hours will be extended, pay would freeze among other tactics for the government to receive money to support the city's services. |
